Ret. Gen. Krulak

LIFELONG REPUBLICAN

RET. GEN. CHARLES KRULAK

ENDORSES DOUG JONES

We are tweeting Alabamians to tell them  about this endorsement of Doug Jones.

Ret. Gen. Charles Krulak is a lifelong Republican. He is former United States Marine Corps Commandant and former member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and was President of Birmingham-Southern College from 2011 to 2015.

We think this endorsement should count significantly to you in making your voting decision and persuade you to vote for Doug Jones.

We want to DO mass direct tweeting to fellow Alabamians of this message.

Please join with us by doing either or both of Steps One and Two below.

Step One
Click on the below "Tweet here" link  to send a tweet that says,

(After you click on the below "Tweet here" link, you will see a preview of your tweet, and your tweet will not be sent until you click the "Tweet" button in the preview.)

Step Two
Send individual tweets to other Alabamians, which tweets have a link to this webpage. The goal here to get a large number of "pyramiding" of tweets going to Alabama voters.

A suggested tweet message to send in this Step Two is:

FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR TWEETING

A. General
The object of this method of tweeting is to get a "pyramiding" of tweets going in Alabama. Anyone joining in this tweeting should consider whether it violates Twitter's Platform Manipulation and Spam Policy. I have endeavored to make my case with Twitter for this method of tweeting. See letter to Twitter @Support.

B. How to send your tweets efficiently from laptops
In doing your tweeting, you are repetitively sending the same tweet message. This can be done very efficiently, at least on a laptop computer. Get the tweet message on your mouse clipboard, go to the follower list  you are using for your tweeting, start with the first person on the list you want to tweet to, and do this:
1. Right click on person's Twitter name.
2. Choose "open in new tab"
3. Go to the new tab.
4. Click on the "Tweet to" button.
5. Paste the tweet message in the box.
6. Hit the "Tweet" button.
7. Close the tab, which takes you back to the list
8. Go on to next person, and repeat above steps.
You should be able to send 35 to 70 tweets in a half hour. Send as many tweets as you are willing to. Don't worry about any duplication that you think may arise.

Dear Bama Nation,
Let’s talk about the upcoming Senate election. First, we must put politics aside. This isn’t red vs blue. No, it’s much more important than that. In 1976, one candidate graduated from our beloved University and would go on to become a successful prosecutor who put bad guys in jail. He even got convictions for the men who blew up a Birmingham church murdering 4 little girls inside.
In 1998, the other candidate told everyone that he wouldn’t leave Ole Miss until they carried him out in a pinewood box. Funny, I didn’t know Auburn, AL, was famous for making pinewood boxes. But that’s where he went in the cloak of darkness without telling his players goodbye.
Now this next part hurts a bit. While he was at Auburn, Bama fans saw our darkest days. We would feel the gut wrenching pain of six straight defeats to him. But oh, how the Tide can turn! After 10 years, our mighty Crimson Tide would take back what is rightfully ours. And we would do it in dramatic fashion by crushing him 36-0! As it turned out, that would be the proverbial final nail in his little pinewood box. Those folks down in Auburn kicked him to the curb and ran him out of town! There were cheers from both sides of the state.
He’d go over to Texas and dabbled in football there at Tech but never had the success he enjoyed at Auburn.
He’s an odd character in that he was the one who asked Ole Miss to take down the Confederate flag so he could recruit players of color but now stands with the same group who wants to let it fly. Either side you stand on, he’s a flip-flopper. He can’t be trusted. How can we expect him to do right by Alabama when he’s never done it before?
Side note: You want political offices filled with lawmakers from your University...not your rival. They make sure your school gets money before the others. Think of it like your rival winning the national championship. You don’t want them to win because it hurts your recruiting. Great players want to go where championships are won...not where losers hang out.
Let’s also look at the fact poor Auburn had to pay him millions to NOT show up for work. I’d like that job! No matter how you slice it, that’s our tax dollars funding his cushy retirement plan. But he didn’t lounge around at the golf course. No, he went on to defraud our fellow Alabamians in a hedge fund scheme that he claims knowing nothing about when his name is all over it! So, when he defrauds Alabama, I imagine his response will be, “I didn’t know. I just have Trump’s back.”
That’s not good enough for me. Wingnut is not good enough for my state! We must join together not as Crimson & White vs Orange & Blue, but as One Alabama! We must vote as if our lives depended on it because this time, they do!
I’m voting for Doug Jones...Roll Tide!

Twitter campaigning

[For reasons that will become clear, this blog entry appears identically in my two blogs Alabamians Tweeting for Biden-Harris-Jones and Alabamians Tweeting for Doug Jones.]

The digital/social media component of the Biden-Harris campaign is called the Biden Digital Coalition.

I have been selected as part of the Twitter (Hype) (Southeast) team in the Biden Digital Coalition.

I have posted on the Doug Jones for Senate facebook page this:

For what it is worth, I have been accepted as part of the Twitter (Hype) (Southeast) team for the Biden-Harris campaign.
I have done the Biden Digital Coalition onboarding course and am awaiting notification that I can go to Slack.
Whatever skills and learning I acquire in the foregoing capacity , I will be happy to apply the same to advance Doug's candidacy (subject to whatever constraints I am under as were outlined to me in the Biden Digital Coalition onboarding course).

I will be seeking guidance from the Biden Digital Coalition about how to carry out Twitter campaigning in Alabama for Biden-Harris. I seek similar guidance from the Doug Jones campaign about Twitter campaigning for him.

Subject to guidance I get from the campaigns about Twitter campaigning, I am getting to work on Twitter campaigning in Alabama

My opinion is that there should be much conjoining of the three names Biden-Harris-Jones in the Twitter campaigning in Alabama. The guidance from the campaigns may be that there should be less conjoining of Biden-Harris and Doug Jones names in Twitter campaigning in Alabama than I am envisioning. If I get such guidance, I will adjust accordingly.

For hashtags, the Biden Digital Coalition urges #TeamJoe plus a more special #BidenCoalition. For Doug Jones, I have been using #OneAlabama. I will solicit from the Biden Digital Coalition what they think about also having Alabama oriented hashtags of #TeamJoeAL and #BidenCoalitionAL.

How Twitter campaigners in Alabama can and should communicate with one another needs setting up. Pending setting up a mode of communication, feel free to communicate with me however you may choose.

I have little technical ability in the creation of webpages that might be utilized in Twitter campaigning in Alabama, and I will seek help if webpages are set up and used in the Twitter campaigning.

I will begin tweeting about Twitter campaigning in Alabama for Biden-Harris and Doug Jones.

Relational organizing

The Doug Jones campaign says the below about social and digital media:

The campaign has a myriad of social and digital media strategies. The most helpful, efficient, and proven way for volunteers to assist our efforts are 1. relational organizing and 2. text banking. We do trainings on both each week, follow our social media channels for registration info.

I believe that relational organizing encompasses any group that forms with a common interest in Doug, and the members of which group communicate among themselves relative to that common interest and potentially seek to add members who have such common interest, and potentially further seek to purvey information and make advocacy to the public in favor of Doug relative to the group's common interest in Doug.

An example of relational organizing might be a group of persons in the health care field who are interested in Doug's positions and ideas about health care. These persons communicate with one another and potentially to others in the health care field about same and further even potentially to the public in some fashion.

Ideally the campaign is aware of groups that are engaged in relational organizing for Doug. While the campaign may be aware of groups engaged in relational organizing, voters and other supporters of Doug may not know anything of the group and its common interest in Doug.

Voters and other Doug Jones supporters are limited in the amount of information and knowledge they can or will take in and process relative to candidates in an election, and it is understandable that information about relational organizing that goes on for Doug is not set up to be incorporated as part of the campaign's public campaigning.

I think, in some cases, relational organizing that is going on should be made more visible to the public.

This is because the general public is sometimes afflicted by ignorance, misinformation and bias in the public campaigning discourse in Alabama, and there are pools of knowledge that could be helpful to Alabamians if the same was communicated to them.

Take as an example the business community. Say there members of the business community who have a common interest in the Doug Jones candidacy and are engaged in relational organizing.

I think they should be drawn into the public discourse.

I have used the term "silos" to describe the situation of the business community and have endeavored to draw out some of their expertise. See the link https://al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com/2019/11/silos-in-al-politics.html

I have also tried to get Alabama health care expertise into the public domain. See, e.g., https://al6thcongdist-ihaveuntiljan13.blogspot.com/2017/03/al-expertise.html

Relational organizing by Alabamians advocating stricter gun control should be going on in connection with the Senatorial election. I am interested in their relational organizing and what they seek to get in the public domain in the course of the election. See  https://al4gunsense.blogspot.com/

The same goes for reproductive rights as said above about gun control. See https://al4gunsense.blogspot.com/.

I think I understand the idea of "relational organizing." In the below link, I suggest that, in the case of some groups carrying on relational organizing, the tenor of what a group is saying internally should be gotten into the public domain. If you think I could make a contribution to the campaign by working on shaping relational organizing and getting same into the public domain, I would love to work on that. Just let me know. Thanks. https://dougjones4senate.blogspot.com/2020/08/relational-organizing.html

If I would not be useful as part of the campaign, I would be interested in being referred to groups doing relational organizing which are focused on policy and issues in which I have special interest. I think my above link indicates several of those, and I have more that I can provide to you. Thanks.

They could be overwhelmed and not able to respond. Maybe I will seek out groups doing relational organizing directly.

I have submitted the following for approval and posting: "The campaign says that "relational organizing" is one of the two most helpful, efficient, and proven ways for volunteers to assist the campaign.
Do you know what relational organizing is?
    Are you doing relational organizing?
Do you want to do relational organizing?
    Let's discuss.

I have heard the term tossed around, but never implemented it. I'd like to try!

Hopefully the group administrators will approve the post I submitted to them, and we can find other members of the group who would like to try as well.
